Vince, our neighbor 2 doors down and across Briar Hill, had work begin yesterday to start the construction of his new 2 car garage. He has been in the process of getting ready for this day the past few years, trimming and cutting down trees (once hitting power lines with his block losing their electricity for awhile), moving plants, and just generally clearing the area.
"The work begins........" Vince's yard is similar to ours in that it has a fairly steep slope from back to front. In order to be able to have a footing below the frost line (4' next to the asphalt of his driveway), the digging had to go down at least 8' at the back of the hole.
As you can see, this was no small project to get done. Vince was working VERY hard all day to get the hole finished, and hardly broke a sweat! :)
The "supervisors" coming to inspect......beer in hand. :)
The tree stump on the upper right caused some concern early on in the morning. The person digging the hole was worried that if he got too close and took the tree out, it, in turn, would take the fence out behind it because of its roots. All went well and he was able to complete the digging without any mishaps.
