Next stop after leaving the Interlochen Farmers Market was at our County Park, which is located "just through the woods" from our house. We've taken Abigail there before so she knows it well.
She, of course, had her Aunt Claire near her at all times. ;)
Or her Grandpa Don.......
But some of the playgrounds things could be handled on her own, too.......barely. ;)
The manager of the little airport, Jim Anderson, which is connected to the County Park, was there giving a couple of his grandkids airplane rides. Don and I had chatted with him awhile back and he is a very nice guy who loves his planes and flying, so you can imagine how pleased we were to see him land his plane while we were at the park. Abigail LOVES airplanes! So yes, as Grandparents do, we walked over to say hi, introducing him to everyone and giving the kids a chance to see his plane up close.
I believe it is a 1940 Piper Cub, which has been in his family for over 70 years. His uncle owned it, then his father, and now him.
Abigail couldn't get close enough, fast enough.
His grandsons take after him as well......being easy to have a chat with, too. :) They already, not surprisingly, know a lot about the plane and flying.
Jim Anderson.......
As we left the field, Jim had hopped in and prepared for take off once again.......taxiing the plane to the runway. We, of course, stopped to watch......
I love this photo.......
Up, up, and away.......
Ahhhhh, this boy of mine. ;) Julie had taken her heels off rather than sink into the sandy soil, but when it came time to cross the gravel road, Patrick "took care of business" to make things easier for her. :)
Tomorrow....stacking slab wood.......
