"Wisconsin Sheep and Wool Festival...."

Friday was the 1st day of the annual Sheep and Wool Festival, which was held Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, at the Jefferson County Fair grounds, outside of Jefferson, WI.

I had signed up for the spinning class, "Blending Colors on the Wheel" that was being held Friday afternoon. I left home mid-morning so that I would be able to spend some time looking through the vendors building. I saw Susan of Susan's Fiber Shop, whom I bought my wheel from last year. She was demonstrating a new wheel that is made in Vermont. It is a very small and portable one, but personally, I think my feet/legs would be too big for it. It was cute though......

A view of one of the vendors buildings (there were 2)......

My class started at 1 PM, so I headed over a little early to make sure of where I was going. The classes were all being held in one of the back buildings of the fair grounds. One big pole barn that was divided up into separate classes by PVC pipe/tarp screens. :) Surprisingly, they worked very well. This is a shot of pre-class.......

And then when things got started. My instructor was Amy Tyler, from Interlochen, MI. Their were abut 15 students in my class. I think I was the only one from Madison....others hailed from towns in WI, MN, and IL.

And students to the right.....

My class notebook with some of the samples I had spun in it. Amy said that this class was normally taught as an all day class, but it was offered this year as only a 3 hour class, so because of that, we moved along quite fast. We weren't able to accomplish everything due to time constraints, but possibly got through a good 2/3 of the normal class work.

I was very pleased with the class and perhaps will sign up for another at next years Wisconsin Sheep and Wool Festival.

Cool! We went to the festival yesterday. Saw dogs herding, newly born lambs, sheep shearing. Also heard about an event 9/26-27 that I think will interest you. I'll call...

Enjoyed seeing pics of the spinning class you attended. I haven't taken a class there yet, perhaps next year I'll be living closer.
