"Don's New Bagpipes Arrive!"

Don's bagpiping skills had gotten to the place where he was ready for new bagpipes in order to further his skills. He ordered them from Henderson's, located in Traverse City, no less. ;) Those of you who know us, are aware that we plan to move to TC after Don retires. How ironic that TC has the biggest bagpipe store in the US, eh?

Having ordered them Saturday and knowing they had been shipped to him earlier this week, he has been keeping a watchful eye out for their delivery. His watchfulness was rewarded last night around 7:30 PM. He walked into the sunroom carrying this good sized box, grinning from ear to ear. :)

Don opens and begins unwrapping his new bagpipes.

Although the bag looks black in the photo, it is actually navy blue, with gold tassels. In case you didn't know this, Don LOVES gold. Next time you visit us, take a look at most of the framed artwork in our house (the pieces that I did not bring with me from MI, I mean). ;)

As excited as he was, he was still very careful as he unwrapped each section of pipe.

Closer to being unwrapped........

Almost there.......

Ta Da! He gets ready to test his new pipes. They were still a bit cold from being in the delivery truck, so it was to be a quick test.

Thar he blows!

He was extremely happy with that short little test. After letting them warm up awhile, he later played them a little bit more and said that the notes "just seem to slide out of them".

Don Pato is one happy piper! :)
