"Ah Yes, The Piano......."

Because of where our new house is located, the movers could not drive up to the house and unload our things because of the size of their truck, which was a big semi moving truck.  When we had the initial estimate, we were upfront about what our road and drive were like (remember they are a 2 track), so the estimator built in the cost of a "shuttle truck" on this end which would be rented locally and transfer our things from the semi to the smaller truck, then the smaller truck would drive to the house and unload.  The moving company had only 2 guys here to transfer our things from truck to house.  This worked fine except when it came to Don's piano, which is also an electronic player piano, and it had to go into the upstairs bedroom off of the loft.  Being what the piano is, the weight is much more than "normal".  Our men called in the local troops!  Leaving the piano for last, they had 2 local guys come and help with the final piece of the move.  Here is my photo documentary of that process.

Our movers were the ones at the top.......

"Demon eyes"........unfortunately, I do not know how to use Photoshop.  ;)

I'm not being disrespectful, but he local guys were the right height for their end of the job, too.  One was quite tall and the other shorter so they complimented each other for going up the stairs.

From there, they had to into the bedroom which is immediately to the right at the top of the stairs.  once in there, they were able to "gently" lower it into place, and it now sits against the stairwell wall.

By the way, the total move took 3 trips.........and they got to handle everything 3 times.  They packed everything in Madison, then moved it from the semi to the smaller truck, and lastly, from the smaller truck into our house.

I do not think I EVER had the kind of strength to be able to do what these 4 guys did!  Up and down 2 sets of stairs all day and then move this piano after all that?  Whew!  My heartfelt thanks to these guys!

That is amazing, moving that piano up the stairs, hope the upstairs stays upstairs! I remember when we moved here, the semi- moving van got in here (it's a loop driveway after the private road, but not an easy turn for a long truck to make. Hoping when I move out, they can get a truck in here again, and not have to use the two-truck method.
