"Photos from Claire....."

Some of you may remember that my 1st piece of weaving on my new loom was a looper rug for Claire's kitchen. She sent me a few photos of it in her kitchen......I knew her kitchen was small, but really didn't understand just exactly how small. :) Thankfully, it seems to fit perfectly.

She sent this one along because it shows the looper rug that I wove for her Christmas present, too.

When sending her the looper rug for her kitchen, I also included a pair of socks that I'd hand dyed the yarn, using the latest dye technique that I've been experimenting with..........and then knitted on the CSM (circular sock machine). They seem to fit pretty well, too. ;)

Claire also sent me a couple of photos she took of the "Hyberbolic Crocheted Coral Reef" that is on display at the Smithsonian Natural History Museum.

I did some online research and found that the crocheted reef was started by 2 women from Australia as a visual 3D piece to bring attention to the Great Barrier Reef and how it is being impacted by the environment. As the crocheted reef travels from country to country, locals are encouraged to add their own crocheted piece of coral, too.

Beautifully done, eh?

So, I was just thinking of you while reading a tutorial on how to use a warping board to make uber-skeins for self-striping yarn... I think I need to give that a try! And maybe you do too!
