"Kill the Bill protest Rally, February 26, 2011"

Having done a number on my foot Thursday, I did not attend the protest rally last Saturday with Don. Wearing a shoe wasn't comfortable at all, but I did drive Don down to the Library Mall and drop him off, where he joined up with the Fair Wisconsin group. Congresswoman Tammy Baldwin spoke to the group before they walked up State Street to the Capitol.

Don took this as they headed up to the Capitol. As they walked up State Street, they were joined by more and more people, and arrived at the Capitol with VERY large numbers.

Don also ran into friends of ours: Rod, Woody, and Sandy.

Governor Walker continues to say the protests are getting smaller and that they are made up of mostly "out of state" people, but we're not finding that to be true. Saturday's gathering was the largest so far, with estimates from 70,000 up to 125,000 people. After seeing aerial photos of the previous Saturday's gathering, which was estimated to be around 68,000-70,000 protestors, and this past Saturdays' gathering, my opinion is that it is closer to the upper numbers. As far as all "out of state" people, yes, there are people from out of state, but the vast majority of protestors are from "in state".

Of course, there is a wide range of signs, too.......

Some of which refer to the Governor's phone call with the East Coast blogger who impersonated one of the billionaire Koch brothers ("out of state" conservative Republicans who donated money to Walkers election campaign).

Peter, of well known folk singers, "Peter, Paul, and Mary", came to support and performed for the protestors.

Don took a few more photos as he was leaving Capitol Square......

Walking back down State Street........

The controversy continues.......

Love your point about the Koch brothers being from out of state. Hadn't thought of that!
