"Another Custom Color Sock Yarn....."

I'd ordered some new Jacquard Acid Dyes and recently had my first opportunity to use them. I once again used the coned sock yarn that I had bought from WEBS, Valley Franklin Natural. The dyes used were #632 Chestnut, #633 Aztec Gold, and #635 Brown. I didn't have any unused oil/vinegar bottles to mix the dye with water, so I used a plastic fork and just hand spread some of the dye along the length of the sock tube. These photos show how the tube turned out.

The tube prior to unraveling and winding onto a paper towel tube (getting it ready to use on the paint roller cage attached to my NZAK sock machine).

After winding....

I include the next 2 photos only because of the sunlight and evergreen background, which make the browns look a bit brighter. Once again prior to unraveling/winding........

And after......

"Many Colors/ Dyed Sock Tubes....."

I have been involved in dyeing more knitted sock tubes. I have a few photos that I wanted to post. Photo #1 is a dyed sock tube prior to unraveling and knitting the pair of socks.

This photo is of the knitted pair of socks, using the above tube. They have not been wet finished yet, and you are able to see the slight "rippling" ,caused by the yarn under tension (?), which will smooth out after washing.

And #3 is a number of dyed tubes waiting to be unraveled and knitted into pairs of socks.

As you can tell, I am enjoying this dyeing/knitting process VERY much. Discovering how the dyed tube pattern creates a different pattern after knitting, is an amazing and enjoyable thing. I hope you feel the wonder of it as well. ;)

"Dyed Tubes and Finished Socks"

Today, I have 3 dyed sock tubes that I've knitted into pairs of socks to show you. I used WEBS "Valley Yarns Franklin Natural Cones", with the tension set at 9 on my NZAK, to knit both tubes and socks. The tubes were dyed in a crock pot.

On this 1st one, I used a combination of Jacquard Dyes.......Sky Blue, #621, Sapphire Blue, #622, and Jet Black, #639.

On this blank, I used Country Classic's China Jade, COC 78, and Blue Spruce, COC 75, along with a little of Gay Wool's, Mustard.

And on this last sock blank, I used Gay Wool's Garnet and Mustard, with some Country Classic 's China Jade.

Here are the finished knitted socks.

As you no doubt can tell, I am enjoying the process of knitting blank sock tubes and dyeing them very much.
